Treasurer report: The bank has deposits totaling $637.00. Six children in Friends' Schools will receive $25 each. Discussion followed concerning the decision whether or not to pay automatically on the convenant. An insurance payment is due in January. After that payment, if possible a $100 payment of our covenant will be made. A letter of thanks was received for our payment of $200 for the PYM covenant. It was agreed that PYM would be asked to cease responding with thank you letters after such a payment.
Request for a Wedding: Beth read a letter from Claire Foreman and David Brown. A clearness committee has been convened. The members are Lynne Graham, Greg Smith, Robby England and Beth Higginson. Lynne reported that the committee recommends that David and Claire be married under the care of the Meeting. The Meeting discussed and approved having this wedding under it's care.
An Oversight committee for the wedding was organized. Greg read from Faith and Practice to help everyone understand the roles of the committee. Bryn, Lynne, Brynn, Robby and Branin were appointed to serve on this committee.
Plans for the Holiday: Robby and Kathleen England have offered their home for the holiday party on Saturday Dec 24. All are invited to come between 4:00 and 5:00. Plans include worship at 5:30, caroling and a dish to pass dinner. People should bring their own place settings. Reflections on the year may occur after the dinner.
Meeting times: Beginning the first Sunday in January the Canoe Camp Church will conduct worship from 9:00 to 10:00. Noise has been an issue in the past. It was decided to keep our times for worship the same, from 10:30 to 11:30, with an option to revisit the noise concerns in a month or two if need be.
Adult Class: A Potluck and discussion is being planned for Jan 15, 2006 starting at 11:30. Also some preliminary discussion will occur concerning a response to the minute of the PYM specially called session concerning awareness of environmental issues.

Wellsboro Monthly Meeting, Meeting for Worship for Business
Eleventh Month 13, 2005
Not Approved
Attending: Chip Hollister, Phil Krajewski, Evangeline Krajewski, Branin Boyd, Bryn Hammarstrom, and Beth Higginson
Friends gathered and settled for worship.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved without changes.
Treasurer's Report: The current balance in the checking account is $137.36. Contributions totaling $294 were received. Expenses paid were $25 to AFSC for Hurricane Katrina relief, $200 to PYM for part of our covenant (leaving a balance of $1000 owed for the current fiscal year), $200 to the Canoe Camp Church for the use of their building in October and November.
Friends were reminded that our chronic lack of money limits our ability to support not only much beyond our minimal obligations but also the good works of the Yearly Meeting, and are challenged to examine their resources and recent contributions and to consider making a contribution now.
After some discussion we agreed to continue our support of the yearly Meeting for the fiscal year 2006-2007 at $1200. The Yearly Meeting had asked for an increase of 4%, so we agreed to have a covenant with ourselves to try to give $1250. Recognizing that the Yearly Meeting would not benefit from getting two different commitments from us, the clerk will try to communicate this intention along with our covenant.
A desire for more potlucks and for selected Sundays when attendance could be especially encouraged, as an effort to increase attendance and foster a sense of community, was expressed. Friends were agreeable.
Beth will email our children about their desire to have some sort of Christmas program.
A brief period of closing worship followed.

Wellsboro Monthly Meeting
for Worship for Business
October 23, 2005
Attending: Branin Boyd, Bonnie K Clark, Lynne Graham, Beth Higginson, Chip Holister
Friends gathered and settled for worship.
Minutes from 7/17/05 and 9/26/05 were read, amended and approved.
Treasurer report: There was none.
Earthquake relief: Chip announced that www.care.org was a site he felt was good because this organization was getting much needed supplies to the people of Pakistan.
Sign: Permission has been obtained for a sign to be on the announcement board out in front of the church. Branin suggested it say " Wellsboro Friends "Quaker" Meeting 10:30am Sunday All Welcome www.pym.org. All agreed with this wording. Beth and Branin will put the letters up today.
First Day School: First Day School will be held as-needed rather than held on a specific schedule. It was decided that First Day School materials and snacks would be available weekly. Snacks will be placed in the bottom drawer of the file cabinet. It was suggested that books and videos could also be ready for use. Chip will look for a video titled "The Man Who Planted Trees". Lynne will look for others.
Adult Class: Next class is scheduled for Nov 20,2005 at 11:30. Topic: Concerns for the environment.
New Business:
1. Beth announced that the covenant for 2006-2007 needs to be discussed in the future.
2. Beth also suggests future consideration of a Minute of response to the epistle from the PYM called meeting on climate changes. The Minutes needs to be completed by April 2006.
3. Also consideration of a time change for Meeting will be discussed in the future.
Old Business:
1. Bonnie saw the Eyes Wide Open exhibit in Ithaca. Pictures of the people of the area spoke loudly to the trauma they suffer due to the war in Iraq.
2. Branin and Bryn were the only ones participating in the trash pick up last Sunday. Tuesday Bryn and Phil finished the job. Branin reported that not much trash was collected. This was the only trash pick up in 2005. He suggests a trash pick up in the spring and fall before leaves fall. Advance notice is suggested so that more people will be there to do the work. There was discussion about the need for more people to help if this project is to continue.
Next MFWFB will be on 11/13/05 at 11:30am.

Wellsboro Monthly Meeting
for Worship for Business
9/26/05
Attending: Beth Higginson, Lynn Graham, Brynn Schmidt
Friends gathered and settled for worship.
Minutes from the last Meeting were read but not approved as none of the same Friends were present.
Treasurer report: Phil sent the treasurer's report with Beth. Balance in the checking account is $293.00. Balance in the savings account is $505.00. Friends approved expenditures of $100.00 to PYM toward the covenant, $25.00 to Eyes Wide Open display in Ithaca (we are a sponsor of this event) and $25 to AFSC for hurricane relief.
Midweek Message: Lynn reported that Bryn H. has a message from the National Council of Churches that he could send in for our mid-week message to the Wellsboro Gazette. He will send this to some Friends to preview.
Report on Labor Day Weekend Meeting with the Ludwigs: Lynn reported on the Meeting she, Bryn H. and Phil had with Shirley Ludwig and Suzanne Leone regarding our possible use of their house in Hills Creek for Worship. They would be happy for us to use the property but would like us to pay utilities and maintenance (snow removal) costs. They had no figures for what these might be. This does not seem to be a feasible arrangement. Lynn asked if they might be willing to deed us an acre of their property to build a Meeting House. They are discussing this option with the rest of the family and will get back to us.
First Day School: With the loss of so many of our First Day School students we discussed having First Day School only every other week. Some one would volunteer to chaperone a play day on the off Sundays. Beth will discuss with Robby if this would meet the needs of his children, Lyle, Eric and foster children. Lynn and Brynn volunteered to teach First Day School for Oct and Nov, Beth volunteered for Dec.
We also discussed having some communication to know when those away at school will be home to encourage all Young Friends to come to Meeting for Worship at that time.
Noise/time change: Friends agreed to postpone a discussion of the noise level during Meeting for Worship, which some have found distracting and a possible time change, to a future Meeting when more Friends with this concern are present. The congregation of the Canoe Camp Church will be changing their worship time in January.
PYM Climate Network: Friends approved submitting the names of Rhonda Keller and Beth Higginson to be members of the PYM Climate Network. Brynn also expressed an interest. This group will have representatives from every monthly meeting and will work to communicate information to Friends regarding this important issue.
Eyes Wide Open: Wellsboro Friends Meeting is a sponsor of this event in Ithaca. Branin will send out the dates to Friends. Friends approved a $25 donation toward covering expenses of this event.
Friends approved a soup+ lunch and a hike/bike afternoon for 10/16/05.
Next MFWFB will be on 10/23/05.

acquisition of property and the possible usefulness of a generic meeting house
plan were discussed. A minute from Pennsdale Meeting asking the Pennsylvania
Department of Corrections to investigate the adequacy of the health care
provided to prisoners was approved. A minute from Millville Meeting asking the
yearly meeting to have a specially called session at Millville on Friends’

possibility of a visit from someone from the yearly meeting. The possibility of
